On February 27th, TransformDairyNet hosted an online workshop exploring Cow-Calf Contact (CCC) criteria in labelling and management schemes. The session gathered representatives from various certification schemes, including IG Kuh und Kalb (Germany), Thise Dairy (Denmark), Dyrevernmerket (Norway), CowPassion/MuKa (Switzerland), The Ethical Dairy (UK), Beter Leven (Netherlands), and Happy Cow Milk (New Zealand).
The workshop focused on identifying key CCC criteria, addressing challenges in implementation, and discussing potential auditing processes. Key discussions highlighted the importance of clear CCC definitions, farm-specific flexibility, and strategies for consumer engagement. Participants also explored economic and regulatory challenges and shared best practices from existing schemes.
The event concluded with a shared commitment to collaboration and transparency, reinforcing CCC’s role in sustainable and welfare-friendly dairy systems.
