[Webinar]
On 15 September 2025, TDN hosted its very first webinar: “Veterinary Insights on Cow-Calf Contact Systems” — and it was a resounding success! More than 200 participants from across Europe and beyond joined us to explore the opportunities and challenges of Cow-Calf Contact (CCC) systems through the eyes of veterinary experts.
Inspiring Contributions from Our Speakers
We were delighted to welcome three outstanding speakers:
- Siobhan Mullan (University College Dublin)
- William McCarthy (Veterinarian with CCC clients)
- Ulrike Sorge (Bavarian Animal Health Services)
Together, they shared practical insights on CCC, highlighted the role of veterinarians in supporting these systems, and discussed the TransformDairyNet project’s mission to make CCC more widely adopted.
One of the key take-home messages came from William and Ulrike:
Combatting infectious diseases is the same as in any other farm.
This reminder underscores that CCC systems can be sustainable and manageable with proper veterinary support and farm practices.

What’s Next?
This was just the beginning! The strong turnout and enthusiastic discussions showed how much interest there is in veterinary perspectives on CCC systems.
👉 Stay tuned for our next English-speaking TDN webinar in November, which will bring new voices to the conversation.
Together, we’re working to scale up CCC practices across Europe for a sustainable, welfare-friendly dairy future.
